An allergy symptom is the body's intense reaction to a certain substance either inhaled, ingested, or topically irritating. Often when these substances are eliminated, symptoms do seem to decrease. Unfortunately, many allergies are simply the surface indications of the imbalance of the immune system, not a true sensitivity to any one substance.
Years of vaccines, chemical baths, dips and sprays, medications, and of course, the preservatives and by-products found in most pet foods and treats, take their toll. Also, inbreeding and excessive genetic minipulation of popular breeds, leaves them very suseptible!

Holistic Animal Care for Allergies
|
Asignificant number of pets, especially dogs, are now exhibiting allergy symptoms. The constant scratching, biting at their bodies, terrible skin problems and poor coats, licking their paws, rubbing their faces on the furnitureexcessive salivation and breathing problems, are very distressing to both the animal and owner. Unfortunatly, not many things seem to help them.....
Until holistic care is considered, it seems to be an endless battle od system suppression while serching for the next medication or change in diet to work. Usually with each passing season, the animal seems to get worse, the medications less effective and the diests a waste of money.....
This is not an uncommon cycle seen when the body is not taken care of as nature intended.
As the immune system struggles, it simply gets weaker and more burdened as time passes, until the whole body breaks down. It is also not uncommon to see the more serious diseases, such as cancer, in older dogs and cats with a history of allergies.
Once you understand how the immune system works, it becomes very clesr why "allergies" are blamed for so many systems that are actually a reaction to a depressed immune system.
While the immune system is suffering, the kidneys and liver are involved. As these vital organs are burdened, through ingestion of by-products, rancid animal fats, and chemicals (common pet food ingredients), structural or negitive emotional imbalances (prohibiting proper digestion), waste products continue to back up in the body. The skin, which is the largest eliminatory organ, than takes on the challenge of releasing these wastes. This results in skin irritations. The symptoms most offen noticed are small red pimples, rashes, and "hot spots",which leads to scratching and biting of the body, paws, and face rubbibg. Numbness from structural problems may also lead to these symptoms and are often misteken for "allergies" as well. Steroids, commonly used to reduce inflamation of the skin will also reduce inflamation of the nerves involved and thus temporarily reduces the so called "symptom", leading to the false assumption that allergies were the culprit...until symptoms return worse than ever in the future, even sometimes leading to paralysis due to the fact that the structural problem was never probably addressed.
The eyes and ears are also reprensentative of what is going on inside the body. As the body is overwhelmed, the eyes redden, the ears produce excessive wax and irritation.
The same is true for food allergies. Simply changing the died, even to a quality natural brand, is not often sufficient. Proper supplementation and herbal or homeopathic remedies must be followed to assure that the underlying inbalance is than corrected, whether it is to cleanse the colon or body of toxins, stimulate the digestive process or balance the vital hormones, supplememtation is important.
Maintaining hormonal balance and blood sugar is also very important in maintaining the immune system and keeping the body strong, and resistance high against "allergens". Feed your animal at least twice per day, mor often to keep blood sugar stable when stress or allergens are present and symptoms are showing. This will do much to keep symptoms at bay.
